Allegra High School Coffs Harbour FAQs

Coffs Harbour High School - no uniform, special assistance

FAQs
We are not an easy alternative. We are an opportunity to reset, reinvent and refresh your academic and personal goals and provide a support network to assist you working towards those goals.

01. What years can I study and is the curriculum similar to mainstream schools?

We offer Years 9 and 10. Our school is approved by the NSW Educational Standards Authority (NESA) to deliver Stage 5 curriculum where students work towards a Record of School Achievement (RoSA). All students study English, Math, Science, PDHPE, Geography, Art and History. Elective subject opportunities, such as languages, may be arranged at the school for interested students via our relationship with Distance Education. These subjects may come at a per user expense.

02. Do I have to wear a uniform?

Allegra does not have a uniform. Our neat, casual dress code allows students to express themselves. We support individuality and do not have issues with jewellery or blue hair; however, students are required to wear closed in shoes (for safety) and clothing that is neither revealing nor displaying disrespectful slogans. Polo shirts and fleeced hoodies and jackets with the school emblem can be purchased from the office.

03. What are the school hours/days?

Classes are 9am to 1.45pm, Monday to Friday.  Students are expected to attend daily and be punctual. School doors open 8.30am and close 2pm. Regular attendance is imperative to achieving the best possible outcome and parents/caregivers are notified daily of late arrivals, early departures or non-attendance.

04. Are you eligible?

Allegra is recognised as a Special Assistance School, which means that our school’s enrolment policy identifies the characteristics of the disability or social, emotional and/or behavioural needs of the students eligible to enrol in the school. Our daily practice includes adjustments to teaching, learning & assessment activities so that all students can participate in a safe environment free from prejudice. We are unable to enrol students who do not have a formal or imputed diagnosis.

05. What are the fees?

We are an independent, non-profit school. There are no school fees but if you are in a position to make a voluntary contribution towards your child’s education this would be greatly appreciated. A suggested $450 annual donation, either as a lump sum or in instalments, goes a long way to supporting a student throughout the academic year.

06. What happens after I graduate?

It depends on the individual student and their goals. After building confidence and gaining new skills at Allegra, some students return to mainstream schooling for senior studies, others go on to TAFE, vocational training or the workforce.

07. Where is Allegra School Coffs Harbour?

The school is in the heart of the city in newly-renovated premises which includes a large internal communal area, quiet retreat spaces, a library and modern classrooms. We are at Level 1, City Square 66-90 Harbour Drive, Coffs Harbour. This location (above Specsavers) is a two-minute walk to Park Avenue bus stops.
